Flaming Pen Press is a traditional royalty-paying publisher of quality original works. We publish the stories that we love to read and are thus highly particular in what we accept for publication. Our content is family focused in order to enhance the educational experience that literacy is.

Stories

What we are looking for

Original works of fantasy, space opera, science fiction, and mystery that will appeal to young adult and middle grade readers. Manuscripts should be between 50,000 and 120,000-words long.

Stories must have redemptive qualities. Heroes and heroines to whom young adults and middle grade readers can look up to for examples in strong character.

We are not interested in

Stories that devalue or mock Judeo-Christian values. Stories that equate to an R-rating. We particularly dislike crude language and cursing. Violence is fine but must not seem gratuitous. Our editors dislike horror.

Our audience 

Young adult and middle grade readers. Our books have wide appeal to students and we have a significant following in the homeschool movement.

Query

Keep your query letter short, to the point. Tease us with the premise of your manuscript, then reel us in with an original plot. Include any prior publishing credentials (short stories, etc).

Do not query if your manuscript is incomplete.

Be sure to include your name, address, email, and phone number.

Manuscript submission

If your query is well-liked then we will request you to send us the completed manuscript with other relevant material.

Include:

1-page cover letter. Full book description with relevant information. Is this a stand-alone or a planned series?

Full marketing plan. How are you going to make readers aware of your book should we choose to publish it?

Finished manuscript, 50,000 to 120,000-words length is preferred.
